How it is calculated
The amount financed is the price minus the down payment. The balloon is a percentage of the price, due at the end of the term. Flat interest is the amount financed times the yearly rate times the term in years, so it does not shrink as you pay.
The monthly payment is the amount financed, minus the balloon, plus the flat interest, divided by the number of months, rounded up to the next sen.
For a car at RM 100,000 with RM 10,000 down, 60 months, a 30% balloon and 3.5% a year: RM 90,000 minus RM 30,000 plus RM 15,750, divided by 60, is RM 1,262.50 a month.
